BRISTOL- Blanche Fiksdal, 90 of Bristol formerly of Webster, died Sunday September 2, 2007 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 6th at Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 P.M. Blanche Elizabeth Maloney was born on Monday, August 6, 1917 to Thomas and Nellie (Burke) Maloney at Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She attended country school and graduated from Lily High School in 1934. After high school she worked at the Coney Island Café in Webster. On November 22, 1938 she married Byron (Odell) Fiksdal at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bristol, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home south of Webster where they farmed. She stayed home as a farm wife to raise their five children. She also worked as a clerk at several businesses in Webster including the Deep Rock Café, Nerger’s Department Store and Jack & Jill. Mr. Fiksdal passed away in 1991. In 1993 she moved to the Pleasant View Apartments in Webster, and in 2000 to Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. She was a member of the Extension Club, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lily where she was active in Altar Society and Choir, and later after the Lily church closed she became a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster where she was active in Altar Society. The couple enjoyed square dancing and she enjoyed baking, fishing, sewing, and spending time with her family. Blanche passed away at Bristol, South Dakota at the age of 90 years and 27 days. Survivors include: two sons; Larry (Molly) Fiksdal of Brainard, MN.; Bruce (Melissa) Fiksdal of Crooks, SD; three daughters; Alice Stevens of Sioux Falls, SD, Della (Ronald) Hinze of Showlow, AZ; Dorothy (Ronald) Benson of Bristol, SD; two brothers: Melvin (Arlene) Maloney of Puyallop, WA; John (Dorothy) Maloney of Marshall, IL, 15 grandchildren, 29 greatgrandchildren, and three great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother James Maloney, one sister Marcella Maloney, and one son-in-law Marvin Stevens.
