Betty Horter, 95, of Bristol passed away Saturday December 20, 2020 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Betty was born on May 23, 1925 to John and Maud (Gooding) Charles at Andover, SD. She was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church in Andover. She attended school at Andover Public School and graduated from there in 1944. Before and after graduation, she worked for Harry Raynes in the drug store.
On December 17, 1944 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Horter of Bristol. To this union 3 sons were born. Ken, Steve, and Mike Horter. They farmed in Bristol Township and in 1982 moved into Bristol, SD into their new home that Lloyd and Steve had constructed.
She enjoyed flowers, reading, needlework, music, fishing, and especially watching the Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed going to the Metrodome to see them play. Lloyd and betty did some traveling over the years.
On their 60th wedding anniversary, their family arranged a family gathering in Minneapolis at the Metrodome to see the Twins play. It was a big thrill to see “60th Anniversary Wishes” on the screen and also being allowed on the field after the game to walk the bases.
They felt truly blessed to have been able to share 70 happy years together and with their family.
She is survived by 3 sons, Ken (Millie) of Sioux Falls, Steve (Gayle) of Andover, and Mike (Dawn) of Richland Center, WI. 4 grandsons, John, Ryan, Blake, and Tony and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.
