BRISTOL- Arnold Lone, Sr. 81 of Bristol died on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. His funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 13, 2006 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, Rev. Dan Overbo officiating. Burial will be in Bergen Lutheran Cemetery near Bristol. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Thursday 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Friday. Arnold Fred Lone was born on Tuesday, December 2, 1924 to Engwald and Frieda (Columbus) Lone at Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended school in Minneapolis and then worked on his uncle’s farm in Wisconsin. He entered the U.S. Army and served in a tank division in Germany during World War II. After he was honorably discharged he returned to Minneapolis and drove street car. On August 13, 1947 he married Alice Clarke at the Chamberlin farm north of Bristol. After their marriage the couple made their home in Bloomington, Minnesota. In 1952 they moved to a farm in Union Township, Day County, South Dakota near Pierpont and farmed until 1956 when they returned to Bloomington. He worked as the District Superintendent of Maintenance for bus service at Edina Schools. In 1976 the couple returned to the Danielson farm north of Bristol and farmed. In 1997 he retired from farming and they moved to Bristol. Mrs. Lone passed away in September 2000. He entered Sun Dial Manor in 2001. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing cards, raising animals and telling jokes. He also liked to travel, motorcycling and stockcar racing. Arnold passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Bristol, South Dakota at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 8 days. Survivors include six sons, Arnold (Tammy Clark) Lone, Jr., Charles (Susan) Lone, Michael (Barbara) Lone, and Garry (Merry) Lone all of Bristol, SD, Daniel (Janel) Lone and Thomas (Renee) Lone both of Pierpont, SD; two daughters, Barbara (Bernard) Hanson of Lakeville, MN and Judy (Barry) Timmer of Farmington, MN; thirty three grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Marlin and one granddaughter, Brittney.
