Arlyne Schulz

Arlyne Schulz, 86, of rural Waubay, passed away Friday September 17, 2021 at Avantara Watertown. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster, SD and will be livestreamed on Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. Tom Mueller will officiate. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery in Waubay, SD. All are welcome for a luncheon at the Waubay Community Center in Waubay after burial. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. closing with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Arlyne Phyllis Pies was born on July 27, 1935, to Phillip and Leona (Donat) Pies in Roberts County. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Arlyne attended country school until 8th grade. On October 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to William Schulz at Waubay, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home on the Schulz homestead. Arlyne worked as a homemaker raising their three children: Kenneth, Randall, and Daniel and together the couple farmed all their married life in Egeland Township. William passed away in 2003. Arlyne continued working on the farm and remained caring for her many animals, her favorites being kittens, lambs, and raising geese. Arlyne enjoyed spending time with her children and her many nieces and nephews. Arlyne passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021, at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 19 days. She is survived by two sons, Daniel Schulz of Sioux Falls, SD and Kenneth Schulz of Waubay, SD; brother Lloyd (Dorothy) Pies of Sisseton, SD; sister Karen Henderson of Morris, MN; two brothers-in-law, David Schulz of Upton, WY and Rubin Schulz of Watertown, SD; nieces Lisa (Dave) Kolden of Chico, MN and Julaine (Willy) Selzler of Watertown, SD, her special nieces Olivia, Ella, and Alayna Sass; and many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Randall Schulz, and seven siblings.
