WEBSTER- Arlene Gilbertson, 83 of Northfield, MN and formally of Webster died on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at Northfield Hospital in Northfield, MN. Her funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Webster, Rev. John Hisel officiating. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Monday, 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Tuesday. Arlene Delores Ahlers, the youngest of three daughters was born to Julius and Florence (Fish) Ahlers in Webster Township, Day County, South Dakota. She attended District #103 country school and graduated from Webster High School in 1941. After high school she attended business school in Mitchell, South Dakota and then returned to work in Webster. On July 4, 1943 she married Magnus Gilbertson at Webster, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in or near Webster. She worked outside the home most of her adult life, employed in accounting positions for several Webster businesses and later as parts manager of Batie Implement. She and Magnus wintered in Arizona following his retirement in 1977. While in Arizona she volunteered at Casa Grande Hospital. Most recently she enjoyed promoting and helping at the Webster Senior Nutrition Center. Mr. Gilbertson passed away in 2004 which was shortly before their 60th wedding anniversary. She recently moved to Northfield, Minnesota. She was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer for many years and was a member of Faith Circle. She was a founding member, with her father, of the Webster Westerners Saddle Club and was on the rodeo committee for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, being outdoors (preferably on horseback), traveling, bowling and life. Arlene passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at Northfield, Minnesota at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 10 days. Survivors include two daughters, Denice (Harry) Knapp of Webster, SD and Sandra (Frank) Grazzini of Prior Lake, MN; a sister-in-law, Betty Gilbertson of Redfield, SD; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Georgia and Doris.
