Alma Peterson

KEYSTONE- Alma Peterson, 102 of Keystone and formally of Webster died on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at her home. Her funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 24, 2006 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. William Olsen and Rev. Laura Overbo officiating. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Sunday 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Monday. Alma Sophie Lindberg was born on Sunday, January 24, 1904 to Otto and Elizabeth (Overos) Lindberg at Langford, South Dakota. Her mother came from Norway and her father from Sweden. Alma was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from high school in Langford and then attended Minneapolis School of Business. After finishing school she worked at Wist Produce Company in Webster for five years and Dr. J.F.D. Cook’s office in Langford. She married Peter Christian “Chris” Peterson on January 20, 1929 in Pierpont, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple lived in Minneapolis, Wabasha and Winona, Minnesota, Excelsior Springs, Missouri and Danville, Illinois before returning to Webster. She then worked at Bethesda Home in Webster for ten years as a Certified Nurses Aide. Mr. Peterson passed away in February 1993. She moved to Keystone, South Dakota in 1997. Alma treasured every moment she had with her family, always showing her love. She enjoyed sharing her stories, fishing, knitting, scrap booking, and her cat “Missy.” She will be remembered for her strength, courage and patience. With an eager hand she took the Lord’s precious hand to start a new journey, leaving many beautiful memories behind for loved ones. Alma, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at her home in Keystone, South Dakota at the age of 102 years, 2 months and 25 days. Welcoming her home is her husband, Chris Peterson, her son, Robert Peterson, her parents, two brothers, Emil Leonard Lindberg & Ovid Severene Lindberg, two sisters, Mabel Louise Dahlquist & Esther Eliana Danielson, and her great grandson, Levi Dean Scott. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra (Robert) Nelson of Keystone, SD; a daughter-in-law, Sandi (Dean) Peterson-McNenny of Sturgis, SD; three grandsons, Trygve (Julie) Peterson of Belle Fourche, SD, Will Nelson of Keystone, SD & Scott (Becky) Peterson of Sturgis, SD; five granddaughters, Robin (Lee) Scott , Casey (Wayne) Eisner, Trinity (Jacob) Rapp & Anna Nelson all of Keystone, SD and Stacey Peterson of Rapid City, SD; nine great grandchildren, Cody, Summer, Hannah, Jackson, Ty, Grayson, Gabriel, Logan and Lexie; and a close friend, Bonnie Zebroski of Keystone, SD.
