In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials directed to the Webster Community Food Pantry.
Alden Gene Hanson was born on March 29, 1936 to Albert and Gladys Hanson. He was a life-long church member, grew up knowing the Lord, and was assured of his eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. He attended rural school through 8th grade and graduated from Roslyn School in 1954. Alden enlisted in the army directly out of high school and served his country for two years. He received an honorable discharge.
On September 15, 1957, Alden and Myrene (Moen) were united in marriage. The couple made their home and raised their family northeast of Grenville, South Dakota, on Alden’s family’s homestead. Alden served on various boards in the community that he was passionate about. He loved being around people -especially after Myrene’s death. Volunteer work at the Webster Food Pantry and coffee times in Roslyn became part of his regular week and days. Farming never left his heart. He became the “hired man” instead of the “boss” in his later years.
Alden leaves behind on this earthly journey two sons, Mark (Kim) Hanson of Grenville, SD and Wayne (Michelle) Hanson of Creston, IA; a daughter, Julie (Scott) Weeldreyer of Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter-in-law, Nita (Lonnie) Aadland of Eden, SD. Sharing in his family legacy are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrene, his parents, two sons -Baby Hanson and Steven Hanson, one daughter-in-law Sheryl Hanson, and one brother, Al.
